Our church believes that we must lead people into the life of love that our Lord has called us to live. In the book of Mathew Jesus said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age"(Mat. 28:18-20 NIV). It is our goal to develop active ministries in the Hood River Valley, to contact people who do not know Christ and seek opportunities to share God's love with them.
We want to see our people grow spiritually. “Spirituality is a growing desire to know, love and please God that is fostered in the power of the Holy Spirit through prayer and other appropriate disciplines and is actualized in an obedient life that expresses the love of God to others in their own spiritual and social needs.”(Cannell & Leifeld, Alive to God, p.244)” (Maddix n.d., Lect. 3.1, p. 3).
Our pastor leads through servant leadership. The Church Manual says, “The minister of Christ is to be in all things a pattern to the flock—in punctuality, discretion, diligence, earnestness; "in purity, understanding, patience and kindness; in the Holy Spirit and in sincere love; in truthful speech and in the power of God; with weapons of righteousness in the right hand and in the left" (2 Corinthians 6:6-7)” (Nazarene Manual 2001-2005). As the shepherd gives of himself for the health and betterment of his sheep, our pastor seeks to give of himself for the spiritual health and growth of the Lord's church.
